Bread is daily present on the table in every home. It is useful for people to add it to the diet in moderation, but is it possible for hamsters to eat bread, how this product will affect the body of the animal, we will consider in this article.

There are hundreds of varieties of flour products, but two are traditionally the most popular with us: an ordinary white loaf and black bread made from rye flour. Hamsters can also try to offer bread in the form of crackers or pasta.

To understand whether it is worth giving bread to a hamster, you need to figure out whether all its components can be eaten by rodents. The main raw material for the preparation of a white roll is quality grain, but we must not forget that it is very seriously processed before becoming a finely ground flour suitable for baking. Yeast, various bleaches and other additives are also used. These ingredients, when ingested, quickly turn into large amounts of sugars. The body of the animal is not adapted for their assimilation, especially since the natural food of the rodent is raw seeds, nuts, and berries. Excessive consumption of wheat flour products will lead to diabetes and obesity.

It is also not recommended to feed a hamster with rye flour bread. There are several reasons for this:

• Contrary to popular belief, factory-made brown bread contains not only rye flour, but also a high percentage of wheat flour, which is not very good for hamsters;
• The product has high acidity, causing fermentation in the gastrointestinal tract, and, as a result, increased gas formation, constipation;
• One of its components is salt – an extremely dangerous substance for rodents. Even when consumed in small doses, salt causes kidney and heart disease.
• You can’t put your baby’s health at risk and feed him such an inappropriate product.

Dzungarian hamsters are usually illegible in food and eat everything that is offered to them, so the owner must carefully monitor the pet’s diet. Bread, both wheat and rye, should not be given to Dzungaria.

Is it possible to give hamsters bread dried to a state of cracker, the question is not so unambiguous. Rodent teeth grow throughout their lives, so they have to be constantly ground down on something hard. For this purpose, dried wheat bun is quite suitable. The harmful properties of this product are lost during drying, so you can gradually give the hamster crackers. But this only applies to crackers prepared on their own. The most suitable option for making crackers would be bread with bran. It will be not only tasty, but even a healthy treat for the baby.

Any purchased crackers contain substances prohibited for small pets – spices, salt, sugar, aromatic additives, flavor enhancers. These components, when ingested, will cause diseases of the heart, kidneys, stomach, intestines, as well as allergic reactions in the animal. Such a diet will shorten the life of your pet, bring him physical suffering. The only exception to all industrial products will be bread, but only those in the preparation of which only healthy ingredients were used.

Owners often wonder if hamsters can have pasta. These are also products made from flour, they do not contain prohibited components, so they are suitable for feeding rodents in terms of composition. But there is a pitfall here: raw products are too hard – they will injure the baby’s delicate cheek pouches, so they should not be treated to a pet. It is better for hamsters to boil pasta, then you can please your furry friend with this delicacy, but only a little bit.

Do not forget that the basis of rodent nutrition should be specialized food, and offer a hamster bread or any other flour products should be a little. Be sure to pay attention to the composition of the product so as not to risk the health of the animal, because a sick animal is sometimes very difficult to cure.
