Unfortunately, cats do not know how to speak, so they cannot tell the owner in time that something is bothering them. Therefore, it is very important to be attentive to the health of the cat and notice the slightest changes in its condition.

We have collected some common and serious problems when a visit to the clinic is a must:

  1. Mimi laala

This is the most urgent emergency that anyone can face – a cat, a dog or a person. Without breathing, death occurs in three minutes, so cats with difficulty breathing are in a very dangerous condition. Breathing problems in cats are difficult to recognize at first. Symptoms to watch out for are twitching of the side, open-mouthed breathing, coughing, wheezing, abnormal breath sounds.

  2. Abnormal urination in cats

It can be a symptom of a serious problem – urinary tract obstruction. This is a condition where cats cannot go to the toilet. For anatomical reasons, it mostly occurs in cats.

Initial symptoms may be subtle: Affected cats may urinate outside the litter box, tense up but pass only small amounts of urine, make noises when going to the litter box, or lick their genitals excessively.

Therefore, any cat with any urinary problem should be seen by a veterinarian immediately. Keep in mind that cats with urinary problems also need veterinary attention.

  3. Refusal to eat and/or drink

If your pet refuses food and water – it’s bad. Of course, if the cat has only missed one meal and otherwise feels fine, then you don’t have to worry. But if the cat has not eaten or drunk for a whole day, do not postpone a visit to the clinic. Everything can be very serious!

  4. Prolonged vomiting and/or diarrhea

Another emergency where a cat needs immediate veterinary attention, especially if there is blood. Almost all cats occasionally vomit or have soft stools, and such incidents are usually not something critical. But cats that vomit frequently or have severe diarrhea should be taken to the veterinarian immediately.

  5. Ti oogun

If toxic substances are ingested, treatment should be started immediately. Quick action can greatly improve the situation.

Please note that this list is far from exhaustive. If you are in doubt whether everything is in order with your pet, it is better to contact the doctor once again and make sure that there is no cause for concern than to waste time and miss the onset of a serious illness.
